Bud Werner Memorial Library Web Accessibility Policy and Statement

1. Mission Statement

East Routt Library District, d.b.a. Bud Werner Memorial Library (“Library”), offers online platforms to further its mission of promoting Enrichment, Education and Escape for Everyone.

2. Purpose

The Web Accessibility Policy, approved by the East Routt Library District Board of Trustees, outlines our philosophy and guidelines to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA by July 1, 2024, and WCAG 2.2 AA by July 1, 2025, as mandated in Colorado House Bill 21-1110.

3. Scope

The Library is committed to delivering digital experiences that work for all users under all circumstances. We will forever be committed to this journey, as we value each visitor's access to web content produced by the Library. This includes the steamboatlibrary.org and literarysojourn.org websites, district documents and the content found within our digital archive.

This standard does not apply to web content or district documents produced by the Library before July 1, 2024.

As a public library, we hire the services of over 30 web vendors to supply an array of digital content to our patrons. The Library will ensure third-party content providers know of our web accessibility policy, and we will favor providers based on their accessibility conformance claims. While we cannot control the accessibility of content provided by third parties, we are happy to assist any public member with reading and accessing content on our site(s).

4. Compliance

The Library will review all areas of Library-produced web applications and web content on an ongoing basis. In our commitment to transparency, we make the last three months' reports available to the public. The Library has also created a compliance plan (external Google HTML Doc) to meet the July 1, 2024, deadline. All compliance documentation is available through the steamboatlibrary.org website.

Compliance Officer

The Library has designated Nesar Bigzad, Technology and Facilities Coordinator, as its compliance officer for website disability-related accommodations. The compliance officer has received training in website accessibility and maintains Library-produced web content per WCAG 2.1 AA best practices.

Compliance Reports

5. Report an Accessibility Issue

Should a visitor need help accessing Library-supplied web content, please contact us. We will respond with feedback within three days of submission and ensure proper steps are taken to address the problem. Please be specific when describing the information you seek or the problem you encountered. If we cannot resolve the problem due to an issue stemming from a third-party content provider, we will work to assist you with reading and accessing content on these platforms.
