Coinciding with the year that Saudi Arabia first allowed women to be appointed to the formerly all-male Shura, the king's assembly that advises him on laws and other issues, and Saudi women were first eligible to vote, this was the first-ever feature film to be shot entirely in Saudi Arabia. The film is Wadjda, and it also happens to be an award-winner written and directed by a woman, Haifaa Al-Mansour.
Children, ages 2 to 5, with a parent or caregiver, are welcome to Little Crafters Storytime every Friday at 10:30 am in the Children’s Storytime Room. Listen to a story and stay for a simple craft based on that book. Free! No registration necessary.
As a courtesy to others and because of the craft activity, please no daycare groups at this storytime. Groups are welcome to come to the Tuesday or Wednesday storytimes.
Babies and parents are invited for a special series aimed at enhancing your child’s natural love of language, song, rhythm, rhyme and movement. You and your baby will enjoy singing, dancing, bouncing, clapping, and reciting nursery rhymes. Sometimes we even get to read a book together. This program is free and open to kids and families of all ages, not just babies. No sign-up is necessary.Stay afterwards for bubbles, fun baby toys, and to mingle with other parents.
