Text Messaging How Tos

Add Cards to Your Text Messaging Service

Once you have signed up for text messaging you may add multiple library cards to your phone to easily track the activities on your family's accounts.

  1. Send a text to 844-225-9488 with the message ADDCARD
  2. You will receive a reply prompting you to add a library card number
  3. Type in the card number and send

What cards are tied to my Phone?

Send the message MYCARDS to 844-225-9488 and a list of all of the library cards associated with your phone will be returned to you.

Stop Text Messaging

To remove individual library card numbers from the service, do the following.

  1. Send a text to 844-225-9488 with DROPCARD as the message.
  2. You will receive a reply that lists all of the library card numbers assigned to your phone number.
  3. Respond to the text with the item number associated with the barcode you wish to remove.  For example:
    1.  4240005.....
    2.  4240007.....

What Kinds of Notices Will I Get?

  • HOLDS: This is a notice that you have holds ready to be picked up.
  • OVERDUE: This is a notice that things are already overdue.
  • RENEW: This is a notice that things will soon be due, and you can renew them.
  • FEES: This is a notice that there are fines or fees owed.
  • ANNOUNCEMENTS: These notices will feature library closures, etc.

When Will I Receive Texts?

Texts will be sent only when activity on your account triggers a message and they will be sent between 9:00am and 7:00pm.

Will I Be Charged For This Service?

The library doesn’t charge a fee for this service, but your cell phone plan’s regular text messaging rates still apply. Check with your cell phone service provider to see the cost of text messages in your service plan.  You can expect a larger volume of text messages with this service.
