Native American Discussion Series

Native American Discussion Series
May 15, 2019 to November 6, 2019

Join us for a book discussion series guaranteed to illuminate the powerful and often devastating history of our native people. In Killers of the Flower Moon we dive into one of the most chilling conspiracies in American history whilst Egan's biography of Edward Curtis in Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher elucidates the struggle to document a dying culture. Empire of the Summer Moon draws us into the forty-year battle between Comanche Indians and white settlers for control of the American West, while Lakota Woman offers us an unflinching glimpse of reservation life. Last in the series is the highly acclaimed, There There, by Native American writer Tommy Orange, which pulls us deep into the world of urban Indians living in Oakland, California, who converge and collide on one fateful day.

Led by Circulation Services Manager, Michelle Dover, we offer lunchtime and evening discussions. This group is designed to be inclusive, supportive and open to anyone. No need to attend all of the discussions, just choose the ones that interest you
