NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month

Tuesday, October 30, 2012 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Conference Room - Administration Wing

Bud Werner Memorial Library and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore present National Novel Writing Month...30 days & nights of literary abandon for all ages: November 1-30, 2012.

This is the kickoff celebration. Come meet your fellow NaNoWriMo novelists at the library -- even if you're still just considering writing your novel this November. We'll have writing resources, pep talks, a forum for gripes and the beginnings of your novel writing support network.

Write-in at the library! BWML is a comfortable, quiet and well-lit place to work on your novel all month long. Write at the spacious desks where there are ample plug-ins. Peer out the picture windows when you need inspiration. Use the free computers and WiFi to research important details for your plot. Get to know our referencee librarians when you need a hard-won fact.

Off the Beaten Path Bookstore is hosting four Wednesday gatherings to write!  Spend November 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 5-7 p.m. in the Loft, writing and exchanging ideas with your fellow novelists. There will also be visits from local writers who will be on hand for advice. With plug-ins and space, this is your time to write together and share ideas, breakthroughs, frustration and giggles. Plus there is coffee and fresh pastry from the Off the Beaten Path Cafe!

What is NaNoWriMo?
A fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
