Flag for the Fourth: The True Story of Steamboat Springs' First Independence Day

Saturday, July 1, 2017 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm
  • Library Lawn - Outside of the Children's Storytime Room

Travel back to 1876 as the Crawford pioneers celebrate.  Who will save the day?

An outdoor storytelling event with Marianne Capra, told at the site of Steamboat Springs' first-ever Fourth of July celebration (which now happens to be the Bud Werner Memorial Library!), designed for everyone ages 10 & up. Bring your own chairs, blankets, Fourth of July picnics and more!

After the 45-minute story, join Marianne for an optional mini walking tour (about 20 min.) to the Steamboat Spring across the street!

Marianne Capra is a freelance natural and cultural historian. She has told the STORY in hiSTORY since 1994 in national parks, outdoor science schools, local non-profits and Routt County's schools. Learn more at www.SteamboatSpringsHistory.com.
