I guess it's inevitable. I'm going to start every book review with where and how I read the book! :) Here goes! I found this book when I was running through the library looking for something to read for school. (My English teacher made us read at least 1/2 hour every day) I saw something that looked interesting, so I picked it up and read The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate. Some of this book is about a struggle between evolution and Creation theories, but the author was wise in not making it the whole focus of the book. I'm the oldest of 5 with 2 brothers and 2 sisters, but Calpurnia had 6 brothers! I think I would run into the woods screaming my head off and pulling out my hair if that was me. Thankfully, she didn't! :) I appreciated the character of her grandfather, in that he was enjoying himself and didn't care if someone was mad at him for it. That is something I could use. Anyway, I would recommend this book for a great summer read while you're trying to earn your gift certificate!
