This is one of the most classic books of all time! The first time I remember reading this (I've read it more times than I can count!), my aunt had given me a beautiful hard cover copy of it with illustrations, gold embossing on the front cover, and a sweet personal note on the inside saying something along the lines of "Happy 6th Birthday, Andrea! You probably won't enjoy this very much now, but I'm sure you will as you get older." And guess what? I did! Anne and Diana have a relationship right up there with Tom and Huck, Arthur and Lancelot, and Betsy and Tacy. In some ways, Anne reminds me of my red-haired little sister with her temper and her sense of humor. Anne's sense of whimsy (isn't it a beautiful word?) makes ME wish I was 6 years old again. If you've read Anne of Green Gables, you might also enjoy the rest of the series. (I think the next book is Anne of the Island, but I'm not positive... ask a librarian! :) ) This is one of those books that's hard to give a review on, just because it's so good! :) Happy reading...
