Teacher Request Form
Teachers of preschool and elementary age children may request the children's staff to pull books and other materials relating to any area of classroom study, e.g. ancient Egypt, seasons, manners, the rainforest or families. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond via email to your request, and allow up to five days for us to fill your request.
Outreach and School Visit Calendar
The Youth Services department provides a Storytime Outreach program to the 12 local pre-schools. Click here to view the dates and times that we are scheduled to come to your school. Also, scheduled school visits to the Library are listed on the calendar in blue.
TumbleBooks Library
The TumbleBook Library is a collection of over 300 animated, talking picture books created from many well-loved print picture books and easy readers. Discover games, quizzes and even lesson plans all from the convenience of home.
Book Buzz Kits
Beginning this summer as part of our Summer Reading Program, start your own Kids’ Book Club with the Bud Werner Library’s Book Buzz Kits. Each kit contains 8 paperback copies and discussion questions of a variety of well-loved titles for boys and girls ages 7 – 12. Kits are FREE and check out for six weeks. Kits may be reserved up to 3 months in advance through the Children’s Librarian, at 970-879-0240 x 314. Pick up a bookmark with all of the titles at the Kids’ Desk.
Every Child Ready to Read
Provides resources to prepare parents for their critical role as their child's first teacher. Current research on early literacy and brain development indicates that it is never too early to prepare children for success as readers.
Reading Rockets
A national multimedia project, Reading Rockets offers information and resources on how young kids learn to read, why so many struggle, and how caring adults can help. This site can be read in English or Spanish.
Colorín Colorado
This is a free, web-based service that provides information, activities, and advice for educators and Spanish-speaking families of English language learners (ELLs). This site can be read in English or Spanish.

Colorado Department of Education
This is the official site of the Colorado Department of Education on Homeschooling in Colorado. Search this site for up-to-date information on homeschooling laws, resources and CSAP testing for homeschoolers.

This site offers a public service brought to you by a wide range of Internet industry corporations and public interest organizations. The GetNetWise coalition wants Internet users to be only "one click away" from the resources they need to make informed decisions about their family's use of the Internet.
Hello Friend
The Ennis William Cosby Foundation for Learning Differences is named in honor of the late son of entertainer and educator Bill Cosby, EdD. The site is dedicated to providing information about learning differences including Attention Deficit Disorder, Dyslexia, and hearing and sight disorders.
Colorado Department of Education
The CDE is the administrative arm of the Colorado Board of Education. It is the governing body for all Colorado public schools, kindergarten through college. This site includes information on the CSAP, education standards, teacher certification, gifted education, charter schools, transportation, grants, statistics and more.

Parents, Teachers and Caregivers section is compiled by the Children and Technology Committee of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, this site lists dozens of links applicable to parenting and teaching. For example, sites on child abuse prevention, child psychiatry, childbirth, Internet safety and more are just a click away.
PBS Teachersource
PBS has put together an excellent website chock full of information for educators - and it's all FREE! Links, lesson plans, quizzes, book lists, images and more - all for teachers of young children up through teachers of high school age students. This site is engaging, thorough and up-to-date.
The Educational Resources Information Center
In its "About" link, ERIC says, "ERIC is a national information system designed to provide ready access to an extensive body of education-related literature. Established in 1966, ERIC is supported by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Research and Improvement and is administered by the National Library of Education (NLE). At the heart of ERIC is the largest education database in the world-containing more than 1 million records of journal articles, research reports, curriculum and teaching guides, conference papers, and books."
Zero to Three
The National Organization for Infants, Toddlers and Parents is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the development, health and well-being of children ages 0 to three years old. This organization supports parents, practitioners and professionals involved with the care of infants and toddlers. Their website is full of reports, news, research, a "tip of the week" and other information on early childhood development.
