While the Mobile Library was on-site at the Bud Werner Memorial Library, we invited participants to collaborate in creating a Steamboat Community Sketchbook to commemorate the visit.
The theme for our Community Sketchbook is "Steamboat is..."
Participants received a single blank page. Just like The Sketchbook Project, filling the page was up to each artist's imagination. We displayed finished submissions above the self-check computers by the Library Front Desk during the Mobile Library visit, then a special jury of Library staff picked a few creative submissions to receive some special Sketchbook prizes. All of the "Steamboat is..." submissions are being compiled into an official Sketchbook that will live at the Brooklyn Art Library and will travel on the 2015 Mobile Library Tour. It will also be digitized for all the world to visit year-round in the Digital Library.
Before we mail it off, the Steamboat Community Sketchbook is on display at the Library Front Desk through Wednesday, September 10!
