A special ONE BOOK STEAMBOAT event with Jessy Randall, Curator of Special Collections at Colorado College’s Tutt Library, presenting Serious, Scandalous & Scholarly: The Marketing of Helen Hunt Jackson’s Ramona.

From its release in 1884 until the present day, Ramona has never been out of print. Now more than ever, readers can choose from multiple Ramonas in various editions, languages, and formats. Jessy Randall will share the history of the marketing of Helen Hunt Jackson’s Ramona, and illustrate the book history of the novel: the material form it has taken over time and the ways publishers have changed Ramona to fit their purposes, promoting the text to different potential audiences every few years.She will also share insight into the stewardship and scholarship of Helen Hunt Jackson's personal papers.

About the speaker
As Curator of Special Collections at Colorado College, Jessy Randall looks after the papers of Helen Hunt Jackson, author of Ramona and A Century of Dishonor. She teaches a class in The History and Future of the Book and is the author of, most recently, Injecting Dreams into Cows: Poems
