Parent Empowerment ~ Question, Persuade, Refer: Preventing Suicide

Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm
  • Library Hall

Along with the library, the Routt County Youth Services Coalition presents an interactive evening with Ronna Autrey from Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide (REPS). This evening is designed for parents of middle and high school students. The evening's talk will focus on “Question, Persuade, Refer" (QPR), the three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives.

About the Series: Parent Empowerment Routt County
Parent Empowerment Routt County is presented by the Routt County Youth Services Coalition. This series is focused around getting parents of tweens and teens the information and support they need in their everyday lives to help raise children that are healthy, caring and responsible. The series brings in speakers from OUR community to better relate to our parents and what they deal with daily. The goal is to give parents confidence and make them more aware of how they can be the best parent for their children. Topics include: social networking safety; setting rules and consequences; teen sexual health; alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention; parental monitoring; and healthy teen development. Special thanks to task force agencies: Boys & Girls Club of Steamboat Springs, Craig-Scheckman Family Foundation, Grand Futures Prevention Coalition, Michelle Raz Coaching, Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, Partners in Routt County, Routt County Department of Human Services.

Funding for this program provided to the Routt County Youth Services Coalition by the Colorado Office of Behavorial Health and a generous grant from the Craig-Scheckman Family Foundation.
