One Book Discussion: The Great Gatsby

Monday, October 21, 2013 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Conference Room - Administration Wing

A special ONE BOOK STEAMBOAT book club discussion of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, led by Steamboat Springs High School's English teachers.

Discuss! Join your friends and neighbors in discussing this classic work of American literature. The Great Gatsby is a tragic love story, a mystery, and a social commentary on American life. Although it was not a commercial success for Fitzgerald during his lifetime, this lyrical novel has become an acclaimed masterpiece read and taught throughout the world.

A profound indictment of class privilege in the Jazz Age and beyond, The Great Gatsby is ripe for modern interpretation as it explores the conflict between decency and self-indulgence. In the novel's conclusion, the characters collide, leaving human wreckage in their wake.
