Contemporary poetry meets film.

As we prepare to launch into the 20th anniversary of  National Poetry Month (that's April!), see a selection of innovative short films that include poems by award-winning and lesser-known poets adapted by filmmakers from coast to coast. It’s poetry for the film lover in you!

About Motionpoems
Minneapolis-based Motionpoems was founded in 2008 by filmmaker Angella Kassube and poet Todd Boss. It is a nonprofit arts organization with a mission to produce short film adaptations of great contemporary poems and expand poetry’s audience. Poems are selected through partnerships with publishers including Milkweed Editions, Copper Canyon Press, Graywolf Press, Farrar Straus & Giroux, Wave Books and McSweeney’s, Alaska Quarterly Review, American Poetry Review, The Believer, Tin House, Scribner’s annual Best American Poetry anthology, VIDA: Women in Literary Arts, and Cave Canem. Film artists work from completed poems and are given free rein.
