Make Time for Reading
The Bud Werner Library and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore are partnering to offer a special storytime at the Library on Thursday, November 21 at 10:30 am in the Children's Storytime Room.
Join special guest, Jean Fahey, as she reads from her recently published book, "Make Time for Reading: story guide for parents of babies and young children." Art and story translate the science of how the brain gets wired to learn to read. The book looks like a children's book- but it's really for 'grown-ups.' The book is illustrated by the very talented children's illustrator Peter Thornton.
Jean Ciborowski Fahey is the co-founder and Education Director of the South Shore Hospital Reading Partnership, an early literacy education program for expectant parents and other adults who live and work with young children. She recently completed a 3-year consultation contract as the Early Literacy and Research Specialist at Reach Out and Read, an international pediatric early literacy intervention. She has presented hundreds of workshops and seminars to thousands of parents, professionals and early childhood educators, written several literacy articles for the local media and appeared on local and national TV and radio programs including National Public Radio.
Books will be available for purchase from Off the Beaten Path Bookstore before and after the program. Stick around for author signing and treats.
