Health Perspectives ~ Ayurveda: Living in Balance

Place:
Library Hall

An introduction to the world's oldest health care system with Ayurvedic Consultants Becky Obray and Tracy Zuschlag.

Learn more about your true nature, constitutional makeup and habitual patterns that might be creating unnecessary stresses on the body, mind and soul. Explore how Ayurveda can become a gateway to understanding your truest potential to balanced health and healing and how Ayurveda is as pertinent today as it was over 5,000 years ago.

What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is the world’s oldest health care system. It encompasses the science of health based on universal principles and insight into the connection between the body and mind and the laws of nature that structure all activities of life. This ancient Indian medicine dates back 5,000 years and means “the science of life.”

The laws of nature -- ether, air, fire, water and earth -- are within each living being on earth and govern our senses and biological functions. By understanding how these elements function in the body, mind and spirit, and how they manifest in each individual, we can understand our own connection to nature. Through this understanding we can learn basic principles of how to balance our health and prevent disease by looking at how we are affected by the four seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter), time (of our lives and of the day), food and lifestyle.

About the Ayurveda speakers: Becky Obray & Tracy Zuschlag

Becky Obray returned home to Steamboat Springs 10 years ago to begin her journey at Steamboat Pilates, Fitness and Yoga.  Recently a graduate of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda, member of NAMA, and owner of Sole Balance Ayurveda of Steamboat, Becky chooses to lead an active lifestyle and live the mantra of health, healing and non-suffering. As a certified Pilates and yoga instructor, Ayurvedic consultant, as well as yoga specialist, Becky’s true gift is her ability to bring deeper knowledge of body, mind and spirit continuing to empower people.

Tracy Zuschlag has lived in Routt County since 1990. Her diversified background as a meeting planner for a non-profit for 10 years, a wellness coordinator and owner of Juice Plus+, a Reiki Master, a 20-year yoga practitioner, a Master Gardener, mother of two and co-owner of the South Routt Nursery led her to the path of health and wellness. A recent graduate of Kripalu School of Ayurveda, member of NAMA and the Ayurvedic Institute, Tracy’s passion is to share her knowledge of health and healing with others. She is the owner of Whole Healing Ayurveda.
