Gardening 101 with the Master Gardeners

Wednesday, April 15, 2015 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
  • Library Hall

In honor of warmer spring days and the Bud Werner Seed Library, the Library is teaming up our local CSU Master Gardeners to offer a free two-night class (Wednesay, April 8 & Wednesday, April 15)  to help you plan and maximize your summer garden.

The classes will cover different material each night.

Gardening 101 agenda for Wednesday, April 8:

  • An introduction to the Bud Werner Seed Library
  • Soil: components, types, amending and how to purchase it
  • Seed selection
  • Seed planting
  • Transplanting
  • Weeding & mulching

Gardening 101 agenda for Wednesday, April 15:

  • Container gardening
  • Raised beds and Square Foot Gardening
  • Companion planting
  • Season extenders & microclimates
  • Wrap up: what’s realistic, goals, site selection and water use

The Yampa Valley may be eight weeks away from being able to plant anything in the ground, but the CSU Master Gardeners will share advice about what you need to do now to be ready when planting time arrives -- and a timeline to keep your garden on track all summer long.

This program is generously sponsored by Routt County's CSU Extension and the Routt County CSU Master Gardeners.

Free. No registration required.
