Camp NANOWRIMO

Camp NaNoWriMo: Campout for Creation

Thursday, July 14, 2016 - 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • Library Lawn - Outside of the Children's Storytime Room

In November, we call these Write-ins. But this is July and we're in the middle of Camp NaNoWriMo, Steamboat's idyllic July writer's retreat, smack-dab in the middle of your crazy life. For summer, we'll call it a Write-out. Better yet, let's have a Campout for Creation—writing outside, under the trees, with the grass under your bare toes and the flow of the river resounding in your ears.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, July 12-14
10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Campsite: the Library Lawn

Camp NaNoWriMo participants are encouraged to camp out on the Library Lawn for three days of productive, summer-lovin' creative writing while you enjoy the Library's WiFi, camp chairs and even some extra plug-ins for your computer. Writing breaks to splash in the C-Hole are encouraged.

What is Camp NaNoWriMo?
In November, the Library sponsors National Novel Writer’s Month (a.k.a. NaNoWriMo), which focuses in on churning out a 50,000-word novel. Camp NaNoWriMo is a more casual virtual writer’s retreat designed for summer, giving you maximum flexibility and creativity. Set your own word-count goals between 30 and 1,000,000 words, then tackle any project you’d like to camp out and pursue for the entire month of July. Start a new novel or tackle a revision. Write poetry, essays, personal genealogy tales, memoir, scripts or short stories. Let your creative writing juices run wild at Camp NaNoWriMo!
