An evening with Kevin Corwin, a volunteer with the Colorado Bluebird Project, and local bluebird enthusiast Allan Reishus.

Colorado is one of the few states that has all three species of bluebird: Mountain, Western & Eastern. The Colorado Bluebird Project is a program of the Audubon Society of Greater Denver to improve the vitality of bluebird populations throughout the state of Colorado, and to inform and educate the public about bluebirds.Kevin Corwin will share information about Colorado bluebirds, bluebird trails and nestboxes.

Kevin Corwin will be joined by local bluebird enthusiast Allan Reishus, who will share his extensive experience and passion for bluebirds in Northwest Colorado, and will help answer questions about local bluebird populations and what others might do in the area to help Yampa Valley bluebirds.

Bluebird nestboxes and kits will be available for sale at the program as well.

About the speakers
Kevin Corwin has overseen the development and operation of the Colorado Bluebird Project since its inception in 2004. In addition to managing the Project and delivering its educational programs, he monitors 44 nestboxes near Larkspur. Some of his other environmentally-focused activities include his work as a Senior Docent for the Raptor Education Foundation and as a Volunteer Naturalist at Roxborough State Park. He worked on the Colorado Spider Survey for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science,  maintains the Sandsage State Wildlife Area near Wray for Colorado Parks & Wildlife, performs annual Breeding Bird Surveys in eastern Colorado for the USGS, leads birding trips for the Denver Field Ornithologists and partakes of many other volunteer opportunities as well.

Local birder Allan Reishus has built 120 bluebird nesting boxes around Northwest Colorado that he maintains and monitors on a regular schedule. He has also installed and monitors nests for American kestrels and Canada geese, and recently initiated a successful program of nesting structures for osprey along the Yampa River.
