As a child growing up in Scotland, Kathleen Pelley was entranced by the country's richness for natural beauty and magical storytelling. Her passion for stories came from her Irish father who told tales of fairies, leprechauns, mermaids and banshees. Before she coud write her own words, or even read them, she knew these tales were magic, because of the music they made. As an adult and professional author, Kathleen has won numerous awards for her children's picture books. When she's not writing her own stories, she enjoys telling them to anyone who will listen. She reads folk and fairytales to the lucky students of Loyola school in Denver and reads books on tape for the Colorado Talking Book Library.
News from Kathleen Pelley's Website: I am delighted to announce that my picture book, The Sandal Artist, illustrated by Lois Rosio Sprague (Pelican Publishing) has been honored with a Storytelling World Award Honor and as a Colorado Book Award Finalist. To be acknowledged for my work in my home state and for the storytelling tradition that I so love, is a joy.
