How it works:
1. Select Your Seeds
Browse or search the catalog for nearly 70 non-GMO varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
2. Check Them Out:
Help yourself to no more than 15 seed packets per patron. The seed library is located near the gardening books (Dewey Call Number 635) on the 2nd floor of the library. No need to visit the Circulation Desk or use your library card--we trust you!
3. Plant and Grow:
Plant your seeds in your garden using the instructions on each packet. Take notes on the progress of plants throughout the growing season. Pay special attention to altitude, proximity to other varieties, plus watering frequency and other maintenance.
4. Harvest and Return:
Collect some seeds from your harvest and bring them back to the Reference Desk for processing. These hardy, region-proven seeds will be included in the Community Seed Collection for patron use next year!
5. Share and Learn:
Record your notes fo each variety on our website as a "review" for the respective seeds. This information will help future gardeners understand the ideal conditions for each variety and contributes to a local knowledge base.
